Most of you will no doubt have heard about Twitter and Facebook but you may not fully understand what they are or what you can do so we have written a short summary below.
Twitter is a free social networking and mini or micro blogging service that allows users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are essentially text messages and are restricted to 140 characters.
Facebook is a free social networking website. Users can add friends and send them messages and update their personal profile. Users can also share photographs.
Although initially both Twitter and Facebook would appear to be social networking tools, in fact there are some great benefits for business. Firstly the mass popularity of Twitter and Facebook mean that the majority of your customers will already have accounts with one or both. By attracting your customers to subscribe to your Twitter feed or become a fan on Facebook you can instantly communicate any news or special offers − and in turn your users can quickly pass these offers on to other members of their network if they think they would be interested.
